I need a Christmas shoe - KG

‘Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la laaa!
Don we now our gay apparel,
Fa la la, la la la, la la laaa!

Feel free to stop me... please! Even with all the Christmas shopping frenzy, the cold weather and the upcoming stressful family scenarios I just can’t get enough of this time of the year. So, to celebrate, and don some fancy apparel, let’s make our feet oh-so-very-merry.

One sec, I have a miniature dog wedged between me and the sofa, and he is hardly allowing me to type, must-re-arrange-pooch... there, done! Ok, so here I present you, dear darling readers, with the most gorgeous Christmas shoes ever, by Kurt Geiger, no less. One day I will own a pair of shoes as beautiful as these, I have to! even if it's just to have an excuse to smile at my ugly feet.

Christmas is a lot about fun and about eating exaggerated amounts of super-calorific dishes covered in cream or whatever doubles their amount of fat. It is also about shopping in an oh-so-very stressed manner.

However this time of the year should also be about reflecting. It’s the end of the year, my dears, and what have you done? What have been the highs and lows? and what are truly and honestly, your wishes for the days ahead? There’s a lot to be thankful for, and somehow I wish we adopted a certain US tradition, going around your dinner table on Christmas Day, telling your close ones what you are thankful for.

The shelves in my living room in full Christmas attire

Some of my highs have been continuing to write on this space, even when no one wanted to read it, just because I’m so passionate about fashion I need to express it. Another high is managing to train my dog to walk next to me without a leash - believe me, that’s a HUGE achievement, and yeah, I know, I'm all about my dog, bite me!
I achieved my life-long dream of visiting New York. I also finished two courses by the London College of Fashion, one in Fashion Branding, and another one in Fashion Buying and Merchandising - yes, I went back to school and I have the badge to prove it...not really, they actually give you a certificate. A badge would be so much cooler, though... in the shape of a star, a golden star. Sorry, I digress.

A low has to be my back injury. On Monday we went to yet another specialist and nothing came out of it. Another doctor that fails to tell me why my lower back is not allowing me to sit or stand, and let me have a normal life as a young person. It’s frustrating, making me feel quite powerless. I used to do sports, I even ran half a marathon twice - and loooove bragging about this, haven't you noticed? - and I used to manage a flagship store for a big brand -still bragging - I used to do so much and now I have to keep reminding myself of that, to convince myself that somehow I will be able to do those things again, even better.

My Spanish side has to come out with a traditional - yet tiny - Christmas manger. Love it!

My wishes for the days ahead is that my boyfriend, my dog and myself make it to the south of Spain to celebrate Christmas. To be able to get “merry” with my best friends and to see my niece before she flies to Turkey to visit her grandmother (Heni, you are missed). I also plan to show my family “how it’s done” and cook a fantastic meal on Christmas Day.

And to end this post, I’m thankful for love, for gorgeous shoes by Kurt Geiger and for a beautifully kitsch deer that takes me back to my childhood. The one pictured below, while quite different to the one on my Christmas tree when I was a wee girl, it still reminded me of it, and that’s how it found a place on my current tree.

Now it's your turn, what are you thinking about these days?
