Seeing Double
I was catching up on Style File, Style.com's fashion blog, and immediately stopped when I came to the post entitled "A Tale of Two Jennys." The entry introduced Geronimo, the new line from designer Jenny Reyes (long time stylist of Jenny Lewis). It was not the content that caught my eye though, it was the picture accompanying it. The model was wearing a bathing suit with the exact print of one I purchased on etsy last spring.Apparently, Geronimo is known for its "playful 50s beachwear" with items like "high-waisted shorts, rompers, and swimsuits." This description sounds eerily similar to the rockabilly style of Miss Brache, the designer I bought my suit from. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not--and frankly, I don't really care--but I couldn't help but smirk when I realized a replica of the bathing suit I got a year ago is now being featured on Style.com. (Just for the record, my suit is a two-piece and can be worn in several different ways.) The good news is this: if you're into the stuff Geronimo offers, you now know about a plus-size alternative! Miss Brache offers sizes 0-24, and if you need a larger size, just shoot her a message. I'm pretty sure she's no longer selling the suit I'm wearing in the pic, but just think: maybe something you buy now will be covered by Vogue's blog next year. (And if you're really jonesin' for that plaid, Torrid's got a dress out now with a similar print.)
