India Independence Week Spotlight: Aisha
Aisha Bollywood Movie FashionAisha Bollywood Movie FashionAisha Bollywood Movie FashionAisha Bollywood Movie FashionAisha Bollywood Movie FashionChristened as India's Sex And The City much before its release and having tied up with high-end international brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Christian Dior and Chanel for the costumes, Aisha wasn't much the glossy escapist visual treat it promised to be. Aisha is an adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma placed today in the neo-rich, spiced-up, politically-charged atmosphere of Delhi's elite.

The label-centric designer world and all related shenanigans just seemed shallow and fell short of entertaining in my opinion. Let's not forget that Jane Austen applied great intellectual strength to her frail and shallow people which didn't exactly translate into Aisha! (Sorry to go all 'Chicks on Flicks' ;) on you all but I'm just disappointed, you see. I'm not a movie critic and this is a style blog so moving on..)

Aisha was too much of an unoriginal Blair Waldorf reproduction for me but stylists Pernia Qureshi and Kunal Rawal did a fantastic job with the quirky characters, Shefali and, Pinky whose style I identify most with. The Manish Aroras and general Jester Fashion vibe on Pinky was both avant garde and amusing. :)
And so, I can't help but ask; are you an Aisha (Sonam), Pinky (Ira) or Shefali (Amrita)? :)
