Return from the Sun

My 9 days in Spain went by with the speed of light, as they usually do. The trip has inspired me a lot, and there will soon be some changes as a result of certain southern musings. Just watch this space.
I'm quite glad I managed to fit in a lot of things I don't normally have time to, like escaping for a day to Malaga to visit one of my best friends, re-discovering this city and having a stroll by the beach ... do you hate me?

Malaga is a great town. Quite chaotic - especially right now when the city's underground system is being built - it is a colourful hot spot, full or artisans, tourists, business men... What to do there? a must is an afternoon of pescaito frito for lunch (that's fresh fried fish) by the beach followed by a cold frappé in one of the coastal cafes. I went to a placed next to El Palo, and I absolutely loved the laid-back atmosphere and cool spirits.

Another great thing to do in this chilled city is shopping, of course. I began my day with international brands such as Zara, H&M and the one that makes my purse tremble, Blanco, at Malaga's main train station, Maria Zambrano. The place is a pretty decent shopping centre. I headed to the city centre right after, towards la Calle Larios, and surrounding winding streets. I told my friend to take me to La Habitacion de Kate.

A gorgeous little boutique, it's full of colour and precious items that will make you want to swipe your bank card as soon as you walk in. With a true vintage vibe, you will find deliciously fun brooches, original handbags and jewelry, clothing, purses, scarves ... so much and every single item is covetable.

Noelia, a lovely girl by the way, told us about the many artisans and designers behind each piece in this dreamy shop. A lot of their stock is hand-made and a treat to the eyes. La Habitacion de Kate are working on their own second clothing collection and we simply cannot wait to hear how that goes.

We bought a t-shirt we fell in love with as we entered La Habitacion, the Ofelia top by Porque sueño, pictured below, which features a beautiful rendition of one of my favourite paintings, Ophelia by John Everett Millais. Please visit Porque sueño's site, such talent simply needs to be checked out.

Just like the painting, my trip to Malaga now feels like a dream. I wish I were there. How about you? If you could be anywhere in the world, where would you be?

Note: Thank you Noelia for welcoming us into your shop, and a special Limbo-kiss to my Malaga guides ;)
