Forgotten Treasures
While looking through my Flickr photostream tonight I realized I'd never shared these pictures-- the items were all purchased at an estate sale in early September (!). The hot item at the sale were ceramic cat figurines, a man scooped up dozens of teeny miniature kittens while women fought each over wide-eyed specimens with rhinestone-bedazzled collars. I managed to resist the frenzy with the exception of one 1-inch high kitten that I got to put in my shadowbox. The eyeglasses case is pretty over-the-top (it's handpainted and was made in Mexico) but it's easy to find in the depths of my purse and keeps my glasses safe.Of course, another locket! Some of the jewelry at the sale was overpriced but this was only $7! It's an unusual addition for my collection as it features an etched scene on the front. This crystal pendant is chipped but I'll be wearing it anyways. I've been buying assorted bits and bobs to make into necklaces, have yet to put them all together... maybe a winter project. What otherwise would be a standard summer handbag is livened up with gold metallic thread.Perfect addition for my Nautical-themed bathroom, my favorite ocean creature-- sea horses! Coincidentally these were also hanging in the previous owner's bathroom.
All these photos were taken on a CTA El (our subway) bench while I waited for the train. Fortunately no one was around so I didn't get any funny looks!
