Funky Soul Train: Nor Black Nor White
While bright hues, colour blocking and tribal prints are taking the fashion world by storm this season, they have always been a huge part of our country's fashion heritage. I discovered Nor Black Nor White with all its tribal tie-dyed goodness a few months ago and thought, why that looks a lot like Proenza Schouler Spring 2011! But of course, it should have been the other way around. Indian techniques and artisans have inspired many great collections in the west. I loved seeing this indie label by designers Amrit Kumar and Mriga Kapadiya embrace the same in a easy, modern way more suited for today's Indian woman. This particular collection is inspired by the traditional craftsmanship present in the Kachchh, Gujarat.

I love this video capturing the artisans and their families (goofing around) at work. Besides being utterly educational, there are some great light behind the scene moments too. :) Did you catch that quintessentially Indian 'funky soul train' in the beginning? And those darling credits at the end dedicated to creepy peeping men on the train, Bombay, yoga, family and chai? Do watch! :)
