What to wear: RAFW 2011

Next week thousands of fashionistas will be venturing to Sydney for the much anticipated Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, which will showcase the spring/summer collections of several highly proclaimed Australian designers, and fashion houses. So what does one wear to an event such as RAFW? Something highly fashionable, loud and creative of course. You don't want to blend in. This is a week than the white blouse and black pencil skirt should stay at home, and so we have partnered up with Lylah Boutique to show you how to stand out in the crowd for all the right reasons.Monday
Start the week off with some colour. This mustard sheer top works well tied back with an androgynous belt and a blunt hairstyle. The trend with hair this season is blunt cuts; whether a short pixie cut or a blunt fringe. These tights will also draw you some attention; the heel goes through the tight, nice and snug.Tuesday
Black is the stylist's best friend, her lover, her enemy, and her favourite thing to wear as long as it has different shapes, textures and body to a completely black outfit. If you're not willing to try these jester inspired pants, opt for a pair of herum pants with a geometric print or embossed texture.Wednesday
This equestrian style will send facebook friend requests flying, as you embrace your regal side. Dress it up with a colourful cape or tunic in one of these season's bright colours; mustard, blue, plum, orange.Thursday
Do you dare to try the hooded cape? There aren't many rules at fashion week. Go as crazy as you like with the tailored hoods and capes. Your safest bet is to try one in a black or navy, so that it doesn't make too bold a statement.Friday
As fashion week comes to a close, embrace your inner bohemian child. This scarf is one of my favourite pieces at Lylah Boutique, Southbank. When worn with a dress of the same colour, it almost looks as though it is part of the dress and they could not stand alone. Mix it up with some printed bangles and hippy plaits throughout your hair.
