Winter Smoky Eyes: Gold and Khaki

Smoky eyes have become a stable of eye makeup looks but by using different colours and different techniques the smoky eye gets a revamp for winter! The following tutorial shows you two great winter looks for the humble smoky eye!
As the wonderful Rae Morris advises, always do your eyes first—especially with a smoky eye! The amount of shadow or pigment used will almost guarantee you fallout and by doing your foundation after your eyes you are assured a clean and glowing complexion.

The eyeshadows I recommend for this look are Prestige Skin Loving Minerals trio in ‘Luster’ and L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in ’09 Permanent Khaki’

To begin apply an eyeshadow primer all over the lid. An amazing and inexpensive one is Australis’ eyeshadow primer.

Next take an all over eyeshadow brush and apply the lightest colour in the ‘Luster’ trio from the crease up to the brow bone.Using an eyeshadow brush apply the gold pigment on the inner half of the lid.Next, fill the outer half of the lid with the dark brown pigment and blend gently outwards and upwards. Then grab an eyeshadow crease brush or an intense shading brush and your Khaki eyeshadow. Start half way along the lash line and blend the green and up and out and into your crease in a ‘V’ shape.Line the top lash line with a dark brown eyeliner pencil and apply a minimum of two coats of mascara, I am currently in love with Covergirl Lash Blast. Then clean up any fallout under the eye with an oil-free makeup remover such as Simple’s oil-free eye makeup remover. I then applied an illumination primer, I love Red Earths Secret Potion in ‘Thriller’, I then concealed and applied Revlon Photo Ready foundation in ‘Nude’, then followed this with a light dusting of Face of Australia’s loose powder in ‘Translucent’. I applied a peachy coloured blush and contoured her cheeks with Thin Lizzy in ‘Light’. Instead of using a pencil liner for the bottom lash line I have used a cotton tip rolled in the dark brown pigment and have run that along the outer half of the lash line and have done the same with the gold to the inner corner. To finish the look a nude lip gloss was applied, try L’Oreal Glam Shine in ‘170 Nude Carat’.And the completed look!Add false eyelashes for even more impact!Makeup and Article by
