Every year flocks of ironed dresses and feathered headpieces gather for the Melbourne Cup. What was once an event solely for gambling and socialising, has now become a fashion central; with well dressed prizes and runway shows adding to the experience. As for the fashions there are four seperate events, and thus four seperate dress codes. Derby Day is predominately black and white, whilst Oaks Day features an array of pastels and Stakes day brings grays into the spotlight. Finally Melbourne Cup Day is all about colour, tie dye, florals, tulle and one shoulder dresses adorned with ruffles. Not to mention the fabulous fasinators and big wide brimmed straw hats.
