The Vintage Bazaar: Wedding Style
vintagebazaargettinhitchedDespite the 8 inches of snow blanketing the ground, with more snow falling this morning in Chicago, the latest incarnation of The Vintage Bazaar managed to pack in wall to wall customers yet again. Appropriately titled "Gettin' Hitched", today's flea market focused on everything you'd need for a vintage style wedding from the actual wedding dress to antique china settings. 15 vendors set up in The Empty Bottle, a rock venue/bar in the Ukrainian Village (my neighborhood!), including my friends Karyn of Dethrose Vintage, Lisa of Archives Vintage and Niki of Bombshellshocked.featherindomeHoundstooth Vintage's booth always catches my eye at each bazaar due to the excellent displays and unusual merchandise. Today was no different, I was especially drawn to the objects displayed under glass domes.houndstoothvintageglassdomeDainty kid leather dancing shoes! Now I need to find a pair.caketopperkimono There were vintage cake toppers everywhere at the Bazaar but Houndstooth had the most, including the 1960s (maybe 70s?) pair above.houdstoothvintageshoesbudvaseA dainty bud vase from Houndstooth holding a floral creation by Moss.dinnerparty2Serve your wedding feast on antique dishware from Dinner Party! Much more interesting than minimal white dishware.dinnerpartypinkdressLisa's dainty pink lace dress would be perfect to wear to a spring wedding. She also had vintage lingerie in her booth including the tiered pantaloons below.tieredpantaloonspearlnecklaceA gorgeous sparkly costume pearl necklace from Estate Chicago.veiledMr. Modern sells clothing, housewares and jewelry at many flea markets across Chicago--I've previously purchased lockets from this vintage loving couple. The photo above and the two below are from their booth.kissingtopperfeatheredhatsparklypinsThere were loads of sparkly jewels on hand for brides, bridesmaids and guests attending weddings. I was a fan of all the rhinestone pins above and the stunning aqua necklace below (could be your "something blue") offered by Bunny's Trunk Show.aquanecklacenecklaceshothousemarketHot House Market's displays are always surprising and unique, this time around I enjoyed their use of seashells to display crystal earrings and the glass insulators being used as place tag holders.silveranniversaryhothousemarketsjewelsdethroseshoesAs usual, Karyn had two racks bursting with stunning dresses and a table overflowing with purses, gloves, shoes and jewelry. I was extremely tempted by the copper leaf bangle pictured below.dethrosenecklaceskatherineandlibbyThe masterminds behind The Vintage Bazaar, Katherine & Libby, appropriately sitting on a vintage sofa near the front entrance of The Empty Bottle. They're two of the hardest working girls in Chicago's vintage community. Thanks ladies for putting on another fantastic flea market, I can't wait until next month's market at the Dank House!
