One of my 2012 goals for the blog was to make it more interactive and to become more of a source for the vintage and thrifted community. I used to look forward to Penny Dreadful's weekly roundup of inspiration but unfortunately she discontinued the blog feature 2 months ago. Previously I'd kept track of articles and news tidbits on the subject of thrifting, vintage, collecting, antiques and history via twitter, facebook or Pinterest. Instead of scattering my inspiration across so many mediums I've decided to concentrate on sharing what I've found each week in a roundup posted on the blog.
The first part of the post contains links to articles, photo essays and intriguing blog entries. The second half of the post is dedicated to sartorial inspiration from my favorite fashion bloggers who have created outfits from thrifted and vintage clothing and accessories.

"Andy Rooney Memorabilia On Sale At Norwalk Home": Shoppers got a peek into the life of CBS News reporter and "60 Minutes" commentator, Andy Rooney, at his estate sale in Norwalk, Connecticut. Rooney lived in the home for 60 years and items for sale included vintage typewriters and WWII memorabilia. Dinner with a side of history: A list of Chicago's longest operating restaurants; Schaller's Pump has been in business since 1881!
"Reopening a Mies Landmark": The New York Times reports on the restoration of a home designed by the famous Modernist architect in the Czech Republic.
"Kelly's Retro Artist Loft in in Downtown LA": An Inspiring Home Tour via Apartment Therapy.
"Fibers": The Brick House blog reveals its love of macrame and 1970s wall hangings used as contemporary home decor.
"Who Killed American Kitsch?" : Collectors Weekly explores the demise of domestic art pottery firms that went extinct when Japanese imports flooded the market in the 1960s.
"All Things Art Deco in Napier, New Zealand": The LA Times travels to a city that rebuilt after a 1931 earthquake and chose Art Deco as its predominant style of architecture.
