3 Friends & A Vintage Garage Sale
thriftaholic_kylaA couple of weekends ago my friends Sarah of Zzouzi Vintage and Kyla of Lost & Find Vintage teamed up to have a vintage garage sale in the Chicago neighborhood of Andersonville. They set up on the sidewalk outside a plant nursery a few blocks from Sarah's house and sold their overstock of vintage clothing, shoes, purses and knick knacks. Since it as a warm and sunny day I trekked up there to hang out and snap a few photos of their wares and since we're all bloggers we also took a few photos of our outfits. I'm posing with Kyla in the above photo. garagesale_scooter_pantsNovelty print pants with a pattern of scooters.1970s_shirtGroovy 1970s shirt.garagesale_shoesRows of shoes, sadly none of them were my size.garagesale_rackschevron_print_blouseA 1970s chevron print blouse being sold by Sarah felt very "on trend" for autumn.bee_purseAdorable vintage backpack purse in the shape of a bee being sold by Kyla. I'm surprised this hasn't been snapped up on etsy.1940s_dressKyla also had this stunning 1940s dress for sale, it is made from acorn print fabric! Oh how I wish it wasn't tiny.1940s_dress_acornsA detail shot of the fabric, I can imagine wearing this to go apple picking.vintage_teacupsStacks of dainty tea cups and ceramic knick knacks on offer from Kyla.garagesale_vaseknick_knacksvintage_fondue_potI love the apple green color of this complete 1970s fondue set being sold by Sarah.garagesale_thriftaholicLately I've been reading novels (historical fiction) set during the Depression Era and WWII, consequently my reading choices have seemed to influenced my fashion lately as I've gravitated towards wearing late 1930s and early 1940s dresses. To the garage sale I wore a cornflower blue cotton late 1930s floral print dress.

I thrifted the Murano glass bangle bracelet at the Salvation Army, the Art Deco purple glass ring is from Melissa of Pure Vintage Chicago and the rest of the jewelry is vintage and from various sources.vintage_locketgaragesale_kylaThe three of us all love vintage but wear it quite differently as we all gravitate toward various eras and styles. Kyla is rockin' a groovy late 1960s dress above and Sarah wears a 1980s (?) blouse and contemporary pants below.garagesale_sarahsarah_kylathriftaholic_zzouziThis was Sarah & Kyla's only garage sale of the year but they will be teaming up in the future for pop up sales and trunk shows during the holiday season. Of course you can also find them next month at the September Vintage Bazaar that will be held in conjunction with the Renegade Craft Fair in Wicker Park.
