NYC Style Spot + Inspiration
There was an estimated 50,000 visitors over the course of the weekend, I mainly stuck to the vintage area as I quickly got overwhelmed by all the gorgeous letterpress cards, posters and handmade jewelry at Renegade. Unfortunately I didn't photograph the craft portion of the market but took photos of the TVB vendors.
The first photo of this post features my friend Samantha of Rose Vintage and I posing with her dog Otis in front of her camper trailer. A vintage Schwinn bicycle spotted in Bombshell Shocked's booth. I was happy to see Linda of Morning Glory Collectibles back in the city selling, she had been roaming the Midwest peddling her array of vintage goods this summer. The next six photos are also from her booth. My friend Sarah of Zzouzi Vintage rocked cute outfits both days and as per usual her booth was bursting with colorful, fun clothing, accessories and housewares. Strawberry print pattern on a vintage shirt in Sarah's booth. I was immediately drawn to a variety of vintage puzzles, postcards and photos that she debuted at TVB. Both men and women tried on this amazing horse print jacket before it found a forever home. Posing with Sarah, I'm wearing a 1940s dress and a 1960s hat. Wood pig shaped cutting board spotted in Cushion Chicago's booth. I believe the photo above and the one below was of The Savoy Flea's booth. I'm always drawn to cursive "L" items as its my first initial. So tempted by this statement Modernist necklace. Ceramic lamps and folk art fish seen in Manly Vintage's both. Giant rhinestone butterfly pin in Bunny's Trunk Show booth. A vintage scrapbook and a stack of vintage suitcases (topped with quirky books) in Arona's booth. A sweet carved wooden mouse in Apt528's booth. A vintage purse made with colorful telephone cords. It's always great to see new faces at the flea markets, I was happy to meet Rebecca of Picture Day Vintage. She's a librarian and also co-owns a brick & mortar vintage shop in Madison, Wisconsin. She was wearing an adorable 1950s dress and the most amazing hat! I'm a huge fan of novelty print dresses so of course was drawn to this Egyptian print dress. Sadly it was too big for me. Close up of the print. There was a good amount of men's vintage for sale at TVB including these silk ties in Rebecca's booth. An Illinois purse made its way back to Chicago. Dozens of shoes and a bullet bra for sale in Rainbow Vintage's booth. Stacks of fun bangles seen in Rainbow Vintage's booth. I bought this sweet Pop Art style wooden toy from Take 2 Vintage. Another favorite and flea market staple is Hot House Market. They now have a brick & mortar shop in Southern Illinois so I hadn't seen them at the markets in a while. The next four photos are also from their booth. My friend Laura of Poly Go Lightly always brings fun jewelry and ephemera to the shows. Above is a rhinestone tiger brooch pin and below is a wild cat printed dress. An oversized beaded cluster ring in Laura's booth. The next three photos are also from her booth. Another new-to-me business was Independence Vintage, somehow I missed them at the May TVB held at The Aragon. I spent quite a bit of time in their booth as they had a good mix of Mid Century housewares, dainty cocktail hats and bold jewelry. A hat bedecked with what I've termed "snowberries". Wouldn't it be cute for a holiday cocktail party? Sculptural art glass. I'll take everything on this tray, please. Especially this little cat compact/trinket box. Even though I don't have a dog I was fascinated by these fancy jeweled 1950s dog collars. They looked like they'd never been used. Giant brass peacock in Independence's booth. It's also always a pleasure to meet fellow bloggers who are also into vintage, I ran into Julia shopping Sam's vintage camper. Isn't she stunning? I especially liked her sunglasses. Of course I had to take a few photographs of Sam inside her adorable camper. She knows how to rock a braided updo and I was also a fan of how she paired the structured jacket with a floaty skirt. Otis was the sweetest dog, he was so friendly with all the customers!
