cut for evans
When the Cut for Evans collection debuted a while back, there was a collective sigh of relief in the plus size community. Finally: cute, fashion forward statement pieces that fit well! The UK brand enlisted help from up and coming fashion designers who created bright, printed pieces that could've fit seamlessly into any TopShop or H&M lookbook. I immediately bought the button up blouse and trousers set, and was super impressed with the quality of fabric; it's stretchy but not cheap, and it doesn't wrinkle. I'm a big fan of printed sets, but even I had to ask my sister if wearing these intense pieces together looked "cute like Solange or crazy like a clown"--she reassured me that I looked great, and after seeing the photos, I have to agree. I definitely encourage everyone to go for it by wearing bold prints, but if wearing them on top and bottom is a bit too much for you, pair one piece with a solid. Check out some of my favorite printed pieces in my eBay collection here. photo gabifresh-printed-suit-cut-for-evans-2014-2_zps05d17496.jpgphoto gabifresh-cut-for-evans-2014_zps333bea49.jpgSpeaking of Solange Knowles, my best friend shares her name and is equally as awesome. Solange Franklin and I met in high school, went to college together, and have been inseparable since (she came to Turks & Caicos with me!). We used to read fashion magazines together and wonder if we'd ever get to be a part of that world--something we thought unlikely since we were at a liberal arts school with no fashion experience. Cut to six years later: we took very different paths, but both ended up successful in the industry. After a few magazine internships (including Teen Vogue, in which she was just profiled), Solange went on to assist internationally renowned stylist, Giovanna Battaglia and has helped style numerous shoots for Vogue Japan, Vogue Italia and W. And now she's branching out on her own, too--she was the head stylist of this Rita Ora Paper Magazine cover!!! Recently she teamed up with Canadian jewelry brand Alynne Lavigne to design the amazing gold plated numeral pin that I'm wearing in these photos. It's absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't be more proud of her!photo gabifresh-solange-franklin-pin-2014_zps3114372d.jpgTop & Pants-Evans/Shoes-Michael Kors/Sunglasses-street vendor/Pin-Solange Franklin x Alynne LavignePhotos by Sylvia G This post is sponsored by eBay, all opinions are my own.
