It's an ol' school rule that you should not wear white after labour day, but I'm not really the type to follow rules because normality bores me.
If anything, fabrics in the closet should be re-evaluated first. Linens are the first to be packed away & to not see the light of day until next season—NO matter what colour they may be.
White dress shirts & blouses are obviously all year round, so don't fret about that. As for white pants, switch to a winter-white wool trousers instead and I wouldn't necessarily put away white denim just yet. Nothing looks ski lodge chic than white denim in the wintertime with a wool, chunky cozy sweater or turtle neck with some leather boots.
