A Flock of Angels Forever in Flight
Fantasy Flight was Irina Shabayeva's flight of fancy for her Fall 2010 collection. You could see clean tailoring with a luxurious assemblage of feathers, fur and the detail that, in my opinion, stole the show; hand-painted prints. The hand painted print of exotic feathers on the hooded capes, wings on back of crisp jackets and lining of fur coats soared on the runway. Cut out leather was engineered into wing inspired power shoulders. And the fur hats revisited the aviator trend.
Irina spoke earlier about her inspiration from the Da Vinci glider, Amelia Earhart, and the liberation that comes from exotic birds in flight. I deem the collection to be a luscious interpretation. Irina is the season six winner of Project Runway. She's been slipping by me the last few seasons but I'm going to be on the look out for her henceforth! :)
