Store Feature: Bungalow 8
Housed in an 1857 built heritage building, Bungalow 8, set on 3 floors is an architectural diary of another era interpreted through today's prism. There is little to suggest that this is a retail store. It could be the house of Paris's Grande Dames quite comfortably straddling the past and present.
The store’s philosophy is essentially about opposites sitting cheekily but effortlessly next to each other. It is about having the confidence to do the unexpected, to display contemporary block printed linens in Art Deco cupboards, New Age crockery on baroque tables and sleek Jaisalmer bathroom accessories on vintage basins and bathtubs.
The store’s fashion line, called The Bungalow, designed by Mathieu Gugumus Leguillon is delighful even if a bit pricey. It is one of our favourite places in Bombay; makes us want to move in there! ;)
