As the city had no legible street signs and a very vague map in hand, we got very lost in deed, but that didn’t matter. It was spectacular and I truly believe I will always cherish my memories of this place; not just the sites but also the feelings I felt whilst being in awe of them. I am such a small thing in such a big world that has had so many different civilisations. Whilst speaking with a friend recently about my experience, she asked me “It makes you realise just how insignificant we are, doesn’t it.” I look at Napoleon, Martin Luther King, Stalin, Kevin Rudd, and I think without these “insignificant people” these “significant people” wouldn’t have gotten anywhere. The people who let me down in the past, the people to made me angry, the people who made them happy, the people who supported them with their agendas. They’re all just as important to history as one another.
This is what I got from Pompeii. No matter how small you feel, you and your actions affect history. The below image is to show you just how short the entrances were. Dress - Rome
Clutch - Milan
Sandals - Wittner
Sunglasses - Asos
