NYC Style Spot + SS12
Prabal Gurung's shimmering pretty red carpet gowns have been replaced with a devious style I definitely identify much better with. God knows my love for digital prints knows no bounds and when they had to go finish with those psychedelic symmetrical prints and asymmetrical hemlines, standout florals and bondage black leather, deep royal purple and light summery turquoise, shiny leather ombre trenches and crisp tuxedo blazers, furry feathers and shiny sequins, imaginative cut-outs and mesh overlays, textured shorts and structured tunics.. I died and went to an aubergine heaven, which in my head and as I type this, is this very Gurung backstage with all its pretty people in their Prabal dresses.
Sidenote: I'm a bit cheesed off about Zana Bayne not getting her due here, not a mention of the collaboration with the collection anywhere on Style, Vogue, NYMag.. nada. A talented blogger/designer such as her collaborating with someone as 'established' as Prabal Gurung is a huge deal, I can imagine. The dresses wouldn't have been complete in their 'Sensual Flowers' theme if it weren't for her many cleverly designed leather and silk harnesses lending them that fetish finish. I have to say kudos!
